Product information "Tiffany Patina black 100ml"
Tin alloy below 50% Sn, colors strong and intense
Made in Germany
After soldering together the glass parts framed with thin copper foil to form a picture or lampshade etc., the resulting semicircular tin seams are coated with this special patina. This is done by painting over with a soft brush. When the tin surface and the patina come together, a chemical reaction takes place that oxidizes the tin surface. It changes color and shows a beautiful, evenly black surface, which gives the object a classic, antique look. Then rub over the patinated tin seams with a cloth moistened with oil. This prevents further oxidation of the tin surface.
When soldering Tiffany lamps, for example, this Tiffany tin with a tin content of approx. 35 - 50% is used.
In the case of pewter figures, the figures are cast from pewter with a tin content of approx. 99%. (To do this, use our references 361840, 361841, 361848 or 361849)
